Hi Juan! Lovely metaphor, I resonate a lot. Your story reminds me of how important it is to know in which phase we are nurturing a community. Is it discovery, validation, growth? Regardless of how we (comm builders) like to label them, the essence is the same.
You need to know where you place yourself on the map to make the right choices. Otherwise, if you start mixing and matching actions from one stage to another, things will soon start to crack. As with anything in life, you can't speed up things. Just do one step after the other.
Thanx for the comment :) I agree: knowing where we are is also key. Thinking about your comment I believe we could apply a matrix approach where the columns are the community/startup development stage (discovery, validation, growth) and the rows the aviation priorities (aviate, navigate, communicate) and so in each crossing cell we should be able to identify clear tasks/to-dos to monitor.
Yeeeees! Makes a lot of sense. 👏 This way, we can direct our actions even better and make the most out of them.
Often, community builders try shortcuts out of excitement. They want to provide more and faster to their members, but the truth is that relationships have their own rhythm, and you cannot force anything if you want to build strong bonds.
